Volunteer Work Crews

The volunteer work crews are organized and supervised by the City of Victoria Parks team and run from 10am to noon on a Saturday. Here is link to scheduled volunteer work crews for the 2024 season.

Volunteer Schedule

The first one was held on April 20th. We have had excellent turn outs ( 10 to 16 volunteers) and focused on removing English Ivy ( Hedera Helix) from a S.E Woods section of the park. We removed approximately 4 truck loads (10yds3), but there is lots more to tackle.

FBHP will send out a email notice well in advance of each scheduled session to let you know the date and time of each session.

Here are some photo's of the volunteer work crew along with parks staff. The Parks staff supply all tools and equipment and supervise us so there is nothing you need to bring other then perhaps a water bottle and of course your enthusiasm.

Volunteer Work Crew - October 5th, in the SE Woods.

We had a crew of 20 out on Oct 5th and we are making excellent progress. We having a visible and positive impact by removing the ivy and other invasive species form the SE woods.
